4Cs History Inspired by their own community experiences, a small group of individuals in Halifax, Nova Scotia established the 4Cs Foundation in December 1998, as a privately funded, grant-giving foundation, 4Cs Foundation is committed to strengthening the "creative connections between children and their communities". Since September 1999, over 120 projects in public schools and the broader community have received 4Cs Foundation support. In September 2006, 4Cs Foundation expanded its funding to include community arts projects that are not directly affiliated with a public school. We issued a Call to Artists and Community Organizations for Letters of Interest to develop arts-based community development projects. In 2007 we funded the first Community Arts projects. Although a private funding foundation, we embrace a role of community animator. Our Executive Director participates in a variety of activities to stimulate and support the growth of community arts in HRM. We offer workshops, a small resource library, and participate in many activities, meetings and groups related to community arts. We are proud of our work with children, youth, artists, schools and community members in the Halifax Regional Municipality. |
