Community Art Convergence pairs a group of ten youth with ten artists in a playful and creative project for a period of twelve weeks. A series of art based workshops, group and individual art projects, and playing basketball as a group will provide opportunities to share in learning, creating and having fun together. The goal of the project is to connect young people who grew up in the North End together with artists who have moved to the neighbourhood as students and then chose to remain in the community.
Mentoring opportunities are built into the project with a skills exchange in both directions (youth to artists, artists to youth).
This project was developed by Brendan Dunlop, a young artist living in the North End who has been involved with "Night Hoops" at the George Dixon Centre, as well as many other activities in this community.
